When Johnson passed away in 1865, his widow, Eliza, began selling pieces of their property. In 1866, she sold 5 acres of land to Simon DeGraff who constructed the home seen above for his daughter, Mary, and her husband Myron Foster. DeGraff built a second house nearby for himself and a third for his other daughter, Jane McCracken.
The Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion Foundation was formed in 1992 to restore the home to its original splendor for use as a historical museum and local landmark.
