Your valves could become damaged if you never check the clearance/redo the shims on them. Or maybe you like to rev it up loud before the engine is warm. That would eventually bend a valve.

The alternator is in the crankcase and blow-by from the piston rings will pressurize the case if it can't vent. I don't know the 800 engine, but a blowup of the engine should show you where the vent is. Pull the ignition fuse (number 7). Check for power to the fuse. If have power, clean the fuse spades with the wire brush and reinstall. While the bike is running, check the side stand switch and clutch switch. Put the side stand down, pull in the clutch and put in gear.
