In the 80 versions where they started using an electronic stall converter they don't hold up well at all.A well built 4l60e can handle some serious power. We have cars running 500-600 and 700 rwhp as the power increases of course the odds of failure do increase but we have had very good results. The block is the real weak link, since there isn't much meat in there. A stock 200 should handle 350-400hp on the street. With track abuse or big stickies then only 300-350 without issue. True a stock 700 or 4l60 can handle 400-450 and @400 at the track. There's pro/cons to both. The 200 is an easier swap but it also has better gear ratios than the 700.

Anyway I would say in a daily driver situation they will hold 600 HP very easy and reliably I would guess. I have seen 500 hp circle track engines crack blocks but they run 7500-8000 rpm every lap over and over again.. All depends on the situation.
